Your rights as a data subject

First of all, we would like to inform you of your rights as a data subject. These rights are standardised in Articles 15–22 of the EU GDPR. They include:

Please note the following with regard to your right to object:

If we process your personal data for direct advertising purposes, you have the right to object to such data processing at any time without giving reasons. This also applies to profiling insofar as it is linked to direct advertising.

The context determines which data we process. It depends, for example, on whether you place an order online or submit an enquiry using our contact form, or whether you send us a job application or lodge a complaint.

Please note that, if necessary, we also make information available separately, at an appropriate point, for specific processing situations, such as newsletter registration.

Website visit

We collect and process the following data when you visit our website:

For technical security reasons (in particular, to intercept any attempts to hack our web server), this data is stored in accordance with Art. 6(1) (f) EU GDPR. Anonymisation in the form of truncation of the IP address takes place within no more than seven days, hence no link is created to the user.

Contact, sample and quotation forms, contact via e-mail (Art. 6(1) (a), (b) EU GDPR)

We provide forms on our website for contacting us and for requesting samples and quotations. These can be used as means of electronic communication. If you write to us using these forms, we process the data you enter on them in order to contact you and respond to your questions and requests.

In doing so, we adhere to the basic principles of data minimisation and data avoidance by requiring you to enter only the data that we need in order to respond to your enquiry.

    All other data is voluntary and filling in those fields is optional (e.g. to obtain a more customised response). In addition, your IP address is processed out of technical necessity and for legal protection.

    If you contact us by e-mail, we will process the personal data disclosed in the e-mail only in order to handle your enquiry. If you do not use the forms provided for contacting us, no additional data is collected.

    You can subscribe to a free newsletter via our website. Your name and the e-mail address you provided when you registered for the newsletter are used when the personalised newsletter is sent out.

    In doing so, we adhere to the basic principles of data minimisation and data avoidance, as the only mandatory fields are the e-mail address and your preferred newsletter language. Your IP address is processed out of technical necessity and for legal protection when you register for the newsletter.

    Webinar (Art. 6 para 1 lit. b GDPR)

    SEMIKRON offers free online seminars. For the registration process as well as for the implementation of the online seminars, we use Livestorm from Livestorm SAS (6, Boulevard Saint Denis, 75 010 Paris).

    When registering for an online seminar on the Livestorm website, the data entered (first and last name, e-mail address) is transmitted to Livestorm SAS and processed there. In addition, your IP address is transmitted to the Livestorm server. This also applies if you are not logged in to Livestorm or do not have an account with Livestorm.

    We would like to point out that there is a possibility that data will be transferred to the USA. However, Livestorm SAS has committed to comply with the standard contractual clauses for the transfer of personal data to third countries.

    Purposes and legal principles of data processing

    The provisions of EU GDPR and all other applicable data protection provisions will be observed when your personal data is processed. Legal principles for data processing are derived primarily from Art. 6 EU GDPR.

    We use your data to initiate business, fulfil contractual and statutory obligations, continue the contractual relationship, offer products and services, and strengthen the customer relationship, which may also include analysis for marketing purposes and direct advertising.

    Your consent is also a data protection authorisation requirement. Here we inform you of the purposes of data processing and of your right to object. If consent is also related to the processing of special categories of personal data, we will explicitly indicate this when consent is given.

    Processing of special categories of personal data, as defined by Art. 9(1) EU GDPR, takes place only if there are legal requirements for doing so and there is no reason to assume that your legitimate interest in barring such processing should take precedence.

    Data storage period

    We store your data as long as it is necessary for the particular processing purpose. Please note that we continue to (must) store data due to multiple retention periods. This primarily concerns retention requirements under commercial and tax law (e.g. German Commercial Code, German Tax Code, etc.). Data is routinely deleted once its purpose is fulfilled, unless there are additional retention requirements.

    Furthermore, we may retain data if you have given us permission to do so, or in the event of any legal disputes for which we use evidence subject to the statutory limitation periods, which may be up to 30 years, the standard limitation period being three years.

With the assistance of security experts, we constantly monitor security levels and adapt them to meet new security standards.

    We also provide our users with transport encryption for our contact forms and content encryption for job applications via the e-mail addresses provided for that purpose.     Obligation to provide data

    Various personal data is required for the initiation, execution and termination of the contract and fulfilment of the associated contractual and statutory obligations. The same applies to the use of our website and the various functions it provides.

    This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"), based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR). The stored information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If IP anonymization is activated, your IP address will be shortened before data transmission within the European Union or contracting states of the European Economic Area.     Sessions and campaigns are terminated after a certain period of time. By default, sessions are terminated after 30 minutes without activity and campaigns after six months. Users' personal data is deleted or anonymized after 14 months.

    Google Analytics processes data in the USA. Corresponding contractual regulations and guarantees ensure compliance with the European level of data protection for data transfer and processing in third countries. Data processing or storage in third countries can also be based on your consent (Art. 49 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR), in which case you will be informed of this separately when obtaining your consent, as well as the possibility of revocation.

    Purpose and lawful basis

    We maintain our fan pages to enable us to communicate with visitors to these pages and to inform them about our products and services through this channel. We also collect data for our own statistical purposes to enable us to optimise and keep our content up to date and improve the user experience. This data (e.g. total number of site views, site activity, data provided by users, user interaction) is processed by respective social networks then transferred to us. We have no control over how the data is generated or presented. Your personal data is also used by social media platform operators for market research and advertising purposes.     As a result, pop-up advertisements that match your interests, for example, may appear both on and outside the platforms. Data storage and analysis happens across multiple devices. This applies in particular but not solely when you are a registered member and logged into the respective platforms.

    We process and use your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interest in effective information of users and communication with users pursuant to Art. 6 Para 1 Sentence 1 lit. f of the EU GDPR.

    Where you are asked to consent to data processing (i.e. by clicking a button or activating a similar function (Opt-In), the lawful basis for personal data processing is Art. 6 Para 1 Sentence 1 lit. a, as well as Article 7 of the EU GDPR.

    If you are a member of a social network and do not want the network to collect data about you through our fan page and link your data to your saved user account data on the respective network, you must
